One More Thing…

You know you’ve got a real friend when she will sit at your table and consolidate five 1/2 empty peanut butter jars into two whole, full ones. And, she put the consolidated pb in wide-mouth jars so you don’t have to get the gag-inducing stuff on your fingers. Really. That’s a friend. Just sayin’.

And you had 5 half-empty jars of PB… why?

My kids do this with cold cereal… they will leave 1/2 -1 bowl’s worth in the box and open a new box. Please… just finish the box before opening another one!

    A PB-jar consolidating friend is a friend indeed! :)

I had 5 1/2 emply jars because I have this thing about peanut butter. I HATE it- the texture, the smell, the color- It makes me gag. Seriously. I also have a spectrum child who will eat nothing BUT peanut butter. So, once the jar gets below half, I cannot stand to stick the knife in, because it gets on my hands, and I completely geek out. It’s like nails on a chalkboard to me. Makes my skin crawl.

So I wonder why my kids are weird?

A silicone scraper (or it’s cheaper cousin the rubber scraper) will get it out without you having to touch it. The long handle isn’t exactly a ten foot pole but can still provide a little distance.

    Good friends are priceless.

    That is a true friend!

Oh Tracy, you make me laugh at the funniest things! That is a true friend.

BTW..at swim lessons I met a cute journalist type mom who just moved here from CT and she has two boys who are SI issues… and I grabbed her info and told her you might be contacting her… just in case you want to know….She was asking me how I found our nanny that works with Special Needs kids…

I am glad you have projects.. what kind of peanut butter does he eat? Does it have to be the same kind each time. Will he only do Ritz crackers? Just curious…

    Love to the whole family..

Jami’s idea of using a long-handled scraper is a great idea.

My suggestion is to start the process of teaching the PB lover (Beanie, isn’t it?) to spread his own PB! :) I love it when kids get old enough to start doing these things on their own! Life gets a little easier in some ways – and harder in others!

Hugs as you avoid touching the PB… (Which my DH does, as well, so I don’t think you’re weird or anything!)

Hey! That’s cool! I though I was the only one!

The following experience made me think of this post:

A few days ago a friend brought us some homemade cookies. My DH and oldest son were thinking, “Cool! Homemade cookies!” They started to reach for them and then said, “Oh… They’re peanut butter.”

It is a rare day when either of them walk away from food…

The rest of us ate the cookies. :)

I like PB, but we don’t have it in our house (N has crazy allergies) BUT- I hate betting my hands dirty with anything in a container. I love upside down squirt bottles. Love them. :)
