My. Heck. I have been of baby sitting and haven't had access to much of my account. TRACY! ack! Well I am glad all went well, but I know from experience that those were not easy hours in the e.r. or afterward. To give you consolation and hope, our #5 was very light blond (you know that electric white hair some kids have?) -very fair, and she went through facial stitches twice; once above her eye and then on her lip...almost the same place as your little one. She's 21 now and no one notices unless she explains how her shoelace got stuck in a door or how having a really great wagon ride can sometimes take you right to the surgeon's table. Any sibling involvement will eventually fade to humour and consolation, and eventually, no one will remember this day as horrific as it was.
