This is what Beanie wore to church today. And I don’t care. He was being a pill, as exhibited quite well inĀ the photograph, and I told him get dressed. He evidently considers these “Church” clothes. The pants are velvet, and the shirt is white. He did wear shoes- green Vans, to be exact. What moreĀ could anyone ask for?

Dude. Where did he find those pants? I love how kids don’t care what people think when it comes to stuff like what you wear. I wish I had stayed that way my whole life.

Seriously. That is too awesome. #2 has her own fashion sense, and half the time I don’t care; people look at me as if to say “Do you know your child is dressed this way?” and I just shrug. So, what? She’s five years old.

The pants are from Children’s Place- but from the girls’ side. What can I say? I just don’t care- he fell in love with them, so whatever.

Someday he might look back on that and ask why you let him and/or why you dressed him like that…and you can point him to this post! Or then again, maybe he will remember that as the time that he got to wear the coolest pants ever to church, and his mama let him! At least he was happy, in turn probably everyone was happy!

I see a future as a lounge singer or a golfer, not sure which.

You are an awesome mom! There would have been tears at our house… possibly mine…

One day his attitude will serve him well, you’re a great mom to go with the flow!

When my daughter was dressed similarly, I was at Ross returning some stuff. The lady behind me looked at her, turned to me and said “Your daughter is very independent, isn’t she? Good for you for nurturing that.”
So I think of her when my kids wear weird stuff and just tell people I’m fostering their indpendence, because I am.

That’s great! And I thought my son looked silly the other day when he insisted on wearing blue socks when he was wearing a green shirt and tan pants.

The pants are much more psychedelic than feminine. I always pictured them more feminine. They are pretty awesome pants though. I can see why he wants to wear them… chicken pocks to you Bean!!

Ah. I think it is JUST a lovely church outfit. Way to go Mom, for going. So often I fight the feeling to just stay home.
I love it!

Um, Tracy.
He is WEARING pants. That is exactly 1.5 steps farther than we often get in our house. Child at church with shirt/pants AND shoes = victory in my book. No question.
Usually when my Lu picks clothes like that I have to send her back to try again (for things like picture day and first day of school), she wails at me “Mom, I just want to look like a NORMAL kid”. Our kids each have their own version of “normal” right?
LOVE IT

Oh, these are not his only pair of Pretty Pants. He has an orange pair with white flowers, he has a pink pair with a rainbow waistband, and he has two Hawaiian prints, one in blue, on pink.
I just hope when he’s older he appreciates that I let him express himself, rather than blame me for all the pictures of him in girls clothes.
Child-raising is such a crapshoot.

I think as long as you are “letting” him wear them and not “encouraging” him to wear them that it is perfectly okie dokie.
