Gordon B. Hinckley, the president and prophet of the Mormon church, passed away tonight shortly after 7 p.m., in his apartment in Salt Lake, surrounded by his family. He was 97 years old.
As much as I love him, I don’t feel sad- other than for missing him and his sweet words- because I know where he is, and I know Sister Hinckley was waiting, with jubilation and joy, to hold him again. We should all be so blessed.

I feel the same way. I am so glad that he can rejoin Marjorie and am grateful for his service while on this Earth. Just adore that man!

Ditto, I couldn’t have said it better. What a great reunion there must have been on the other side. Also just knowing that the church doesn’t die with the Prophet brings comfort, and joy knowing that we are all apart of something great! I will miss his the spunkiness and humor that he brought to every conference. Our sweet Prophet will be missed.

Amen. People have been telling me how sad they are about the news….. tears and upset…and I just can’t begin to feel that way.
I am THRILLED for him. I’m with Jeannie… The reunion on the otherside must have been AMAZING!
I will truly miss his wit and humor and the wonderful outlook he has. I will miss his bluntness, and his signature style. I will miss the wonderful gift at putting non-members at ease and educating those around us in the world.
but I would not for one moment wish he could have stayed one more moment here with us.

I’m sure going to miss him… Wasn’t he just super cool? I can’t imagine loving another prophet as much as I love him, but I’m sure someday I will.

I can’t help but think he’s been preparing us for this. He’s been saying ever since Sister Hinkley died that he misses her, can’t wait to be with her. He must’ve known his time was coming, and of course wouldn’t want us to mourn. His work here is done, and what amazing work it was.

I agree. I didn’t even shed a tear, although my heart was a little sad. The only thing I felt was joy, thinking about his wife, and –of course –the great reunion with his wife. He’s worked so hard his entire life, too. I hope he gets a little rest before they put him to work on the other side!

I’m not sad either, just so glad that he finally gets to be reunited with his sweet wife. He has done such a great work on this earth that he will be truly missed, but it’s okay for him to go.
